Early in the morning of March 30th, we set out on our club’s “initiation run” – we call it the Sock Run.
We had a beautiful day and welcomed 3 NEW members!
We hope some folks can come out and join us tonight at the old Marlboro Airport, in Morganville, NJ, for a memorial run for those that lost their lives or were injured in the tragic events in Boston yesterday.
Run a mile or run 5. Run it fast, run it slow or just walk it. Up to you! We’ll begin at 6:30 and we’ll be out there until about 8pm or until it gets too dark. We will have water and snacks.
This is were we will meet: http://wickatunktrackclub.com/?location=marlboro-airport
If you have any questions or need better directions, please call us at: (732) 903-5005
Hope to see you there.

We did it again!
It was a warm and humid 75 degrees, mostly cloudy with some light rain at the very end. What a great morning for a run!
We had 5 existing members: Donna, Rich, Amy, Melinda and Dave and 3 new recruits: Kellie, Alanna and Leslie! Our 3 new members made it successfully to the end of the 14 mile run and got their socks today.

Wickatunk Track Club Members!
Lots of sights to see on today’s run…

Keyport Bay

Sunset Speedsters
Have a need for speed? Need to tune up for a race? Got calories to burn? Just want to “run it out” after a stressful day? We cover all the bases. Come on out to the old Marlboro Airport on Tuesday nights for a fun and helpful speed workout. We mark off the 400m straight-a-way, bring water, provide instruction/coaching for the warm-up and cooldown and run throught he basics of our speed workout. Everyone keeps time for themselves and runs at his or her own pace. The workout is your own. Running with the group helps keep you motivated.
Speed workouts will be every Tuesday between April & October. Check our events calendar for exact dates and times. Email us for more information: info at wickatuncktrackclub dot com.
We did it! For real this time.
Our Inagural Sock Run was held on Saturday, June 23, 2012.
It was a beautiful day for a run!

We did it!
Several weeks of planning and figuring and we finally decided on a route to run, recruited our runners and finalized logistics. Everything came together nicely, minus the actual socks. On Saturday, June 23rd, we will run the Inaugural Sock Run and the socks will be there!

Sock Runners and Non-Sock Runners
Despite the lack of actual socks, three runners earned their socks today.

Our Colorful Finish at TJ’s Dockside Deli, Keyport, NJ
Post-Run we enjoyed some BIG breakfast sandwiches, chocolate milk and deep fried brownie bites. A delicious end to a fun long run. We can’t wait to do it again!

We have been working hard to hash out all the details for Saturday, our first try at a Sock Run. We are calling it “Dry Run” because we don’t have all the pieces in place yet; most importantly, the socks! So although everyone who runs the 14 miles on Saturday will earn their socks, no one will receive their socks on Saturday. But you WILL get them.
We will be starting promptly at 7am, meeting at our usual place: Marlboro Airport and head south on the Henry Hudson Trail.
From there we’ll follow strategically placed signs that will guide us over the course of 14 miles to our final destination in, Keyport, NJ.
There will be a few runners not going the whole distance on Saturday, so if you are not yet up to the 14 miles, please come anyway and run a shorter route with the group.
We plan to have Sock Runs every month or so as needed or wanted so there will be plenty of opportunities to earn your socks if you are not yet ready for the long trek to Keyport. It is a distance you have to work up to and it will be worth every step.
